She was at her playful best when she cajoled a grouchy Shammi Kapoor in  ‘O mere Sona Re Sona re’ and ever since, Asha Parekh has been extremely fond of her Teesri Manzil co-star. So, it was an offer that she could not refuse when the team behind Zee TV’s celebrity-studded singing reality show Star Ya Rockstar approached her to be a special guest in an episode dedicated to the legendary Shammi Kapoor.

“I made my debut as an actor cast opposite Shammi ji in Teesri Manzil and he naturally holds an extremely special place in my heart. I have learned so much about the craft of film-making from him. Apart from being one of the greatest stars to have graced the Indian film industry, he was genuinely a good soul, very helpful towards all around and had a great sense of humor. With his inimitable style of dancing and acting, there has never been another Shammi Kappor.  So when Zee TV approached me to appear on Star Ya Rockstar where some of the most talented faces on television are paying a tribute to Shammi Ji, I just had to say yes!”
