Bappi Lahiri made a guest appearance on Zee TV’s celebrity singing reality show Star Ya Rockstar Guess why everyone on the sets of Zee TV’s Star Ya Rockstar was seen wearing sunglasses at the shoot of the latest episode. Well, with the man who has been synonymous with BLING since the 1980’s paying a visit, everyone thought it would be safest to shield their eyes from the flashes of gold, silver, diamonds amongst other jewels typically found on his fingers, around his neck and at times substituting his belt buckle.
Yes, the charismatic singer-composer with chubby cheeks Bappi Lahiri made a guest appearance on Zee TV’s celebrity singing reality show and he had the audience eating out of his hands when he belted out some of his golden chartbusters on the show. Flanked by Chhavi Mittal and Manasi Parekh on either side, Bappi made a smashing entry with his latest chart-topper Ooh la la Ooh la la from The Dirty Picture. The episode was a celebration of Bollywood’s most memorable disco numbers, most of which can be credited to Bappi Da.
In a mood to just have a ball, Bappi found himself laughing uncontrollably when celebrity contestant and ace comedian Kapil Sharma refered to him as the emperor of music in an era when all the villains, without exception, used to be billionaires, the heroes suffered in abject poverty, had an andhi maa, an unwed sister and above all, had really hairy chests.
When Manasi Parekh delivered a crackling performance to one of his all-time favorite numbers Nisha, Bappi gushed, Tu Hai meri fantasy. Bappi further went on to reveal that it was he who discovered judge Alisha Chinai and gave her her first break in a song in the movie Tarzan. An overwhelmed Alisha went up on stage and sang Bappi’s Mera Dil Meri Jaan Zoobi Zoobi Zoobi from the 80’s.
While Chhavi Mittal’s stellar rendition of Raat Baaki Baat Baaki drew a standing ovation from Bappi Da, it evoked some creative sher-o-shayari from Anu Malik who said, Chhavi Mittal, teri aawaaz hai sona, na koi pital, gaati toh tum lajawab ho, aaj dikh bhi rahi ho lethal Ahem Ahem.
